Shopian, May 24 (KNO): Residents of Shopian’s Kathohalan in Keller have demanded a bridge over a local nallah.
The residents of Kathohalan said that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of bridge in the area.
They said that their children are studying in schools that are lying on the other side of the nallah and have to cross a nallah as makeshift gets washed away every year.
Rayees Ahmad, a local told news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that they are facing a lot of problems in the absence of bridges, especially in case of emergency.
He said that around 20 households are living on the other side of Nallah.
“The government has spent lakhs on different works everywhere but has failed in constructing a concrete bridge. At least two persons have lost their lives while crossing the water body while several have received injuries but nothing has been done on ground so far,” he added.
Locals said that they have knocked on the doors of every government authority to no avail.
Despite voting, taking part in every government programme, repeated assurances have proved a hoax, they said.
“We have high hopes on LG Manoj Sinha and DC Shopian that they will look into it and direct concerned authorities to look into it,” they added—(KNO)
